CONFIDENTIAL MAGAZINE, September 1954

It’s scandal sheet time! This time out it’s Confidential from September 1954, with stories about the woes of Van, the sheets of Zsa Zsa, and the moppets of Margarita. As an added bonus, Ellroy himself would dig on this story about the hypo-fueled hepcats of Jazz. Keep it cool and quiet people.

  1. Hey Mark,

I've visited the site before, but on a more thorough examination, I have to say I'm blown away man.

So well made and written. Seriously one of better sites I've ran into on the LAMB.

    Best of luck.

  2. Hey Sam,
What a great compliment, that made my day! Having a niche blog, I don't get many visits from the Lamb rank and file, but I always appreciate it when someone stops by. Best of luck to you as well!

  3. Greetings from the rainy and cold UK

Found this place via google and I must say I am impressed. Love the scandal sheet. More of the same please :-). Any chance of pdf formats for them?

    Site bookmarked.

    All the best.

  4. Hi there, sorry for taking so long to get to your comment, I was out of town for a few days. Thanks for finding WDL from the UK — I was there a few years ago in July, and had no idea I would need a coat — it made for a chilly vacation!

Certainly, I'll put up more scandal sheet material in posts to come. I'll do my best to link to a PDF as well, but they are difficult to get to display properly when using blogger. I'll give it a go though!

  7. Check out Tom Wolfe's great piece on CONFIDENTIAL publisher Robert Harrison and James Ellroy's revelation that sleazy LA cop/private eye Fred Otash illegally bugged Harrison's targets for years. CONFIDENTIAL specialized in outing gay celebs like Liberace, Rock Hudson and Lizabeth Scott; revealing communist affiliations [ often really brief ones during the Depression]
and exposes of straight celebs that bordered on the pornographic. Perhaps its most notorious cover trumpeted THE BIGGEST STAR IN HOLLYWOOD with pix of Milton Berle, John Ireland and Forrest Tucker!
